Ill Will defeats King Los

Recap: From RBE, against the introspective musings, mental health exorcisms and overall solid (bot often cryptic/nonsensical and elongated when it came to getting to the punch) verses/schemes from King Los, Ill Will stays consistent while scoring left and right with a shitload of gritty punchlines, witty barbs, clever puns, rich storytelling, slinging gun bars and hard-hitting personals to earn more than enough haymakers and take all three rounds for the win.

Verdict: Ill Will (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Ill Will – “I’ll put your whole family in an obstacle, I’ll make him box, Jamie Foxx, al that acting out his chest gonna put him in a hospital!”

DNA defeats King Los

Recap: A couple of dudes, King Los and DNA, who’ve been going at it online for a few years now, finally meet up on the URL/Smack Volume 8 stage and for the most part it was a goodie. ‘Industry rapper’ Los, in only his 3rd professional battle, did pretty well here (tho he still needs to work on his timing and performance), delivering three pretty solid rounds that contained fleeting moments of righteous gems, some lofty wordplay and bruisimg personals/punchlines. That said, this was all DNA. The Queens, NY, vet taking his opponent to task with an often sublime mixture intricate lyrical warfare, fire set-ups, brazen punchlines, fierce schemes, grandiose pontificating and to cap it all, a haymaker-rich, personal-lit, personal breakdown-heavy, hard-hitting and superbly-executed 3rd round that amounted to a classic. DNA with the 30.

Verdict: DNA (W) 3-0

Favorite line: DNA – “You do all this talking about Ancestry, but still need DNA to remind you where you from!”

King Los defeats Head Ice

Recap: When not entrenched with way too many Daylyt references/name flips, King Los makes for a solid effort here in this 3-rounder from RBE versus noted vet Head Ice. The West-coast industry rapper showing off swaths of jaunty lyricism and some intricate punchlines throughout the battle, while also scoring here and there with some daunting personals and racial pontifications. Still, Ice being Ice, the Harlem vet with his vaunted bully bars, abstract polemics and sometimes witty personals stayed in the battle, even if he was often hurt by his own penchant to spout nonsensical raps along with angles that were completely ill-assorted. And tho Loso had his own bouts of pedestrian bars, pointed Lux-isms that didn’t quite bite and plenty of filler, after taking a loss in round 1, the noted freestyle emcee’s ability to submit more ringing wordplay as well as more steady and potent shiners (including some nice off-the-dome darts) in the latter two rounds gets him the win here.

Verdict: King Los (W) 2-1

Favorite line: King Los – “I got a gun so big…it only exists in battle rap!”
