DNA defeats Quill

Recap: Not that he seemed too heartbroken about it at the end there, but in this judged battle from Don’t Flop, DNA got robbed here as opponent Quill’s filler-prone, rambunctious, speed-rapping, oft-dated personals really don’t add up to much on the scoreboard, much less beat a freestyle/rebuttal-dishing, name flip shining, gun bar spazzing and punchline heavier DNA.

Verdict: DNA (W) 3-0

Favorite line: DNA – “I take a head shot and lift his thoughts, I’m innovating!”

Real Deal and Quill [DEBATABLE]

Recap: In front of a UK Code Red crowd, Real Deal and Quill both put on an entertaining show littered with witty barbs, dope punchlines and solid off-the-dome theatrics. A tight battle that also featured Deal devoting an entire 3rd round to Charlie Clips’ affability and Quill spouting a fire mid-round freestyle, after a more condensed Quill edged the 1st and a 2nd round debatable, the more cohesive and congenial Mr. Deal takes the final round to force a draw.

Verdict: Debatable

Favorite line: Quill – “Out of all the places I’ve been, your city is the least frightening, you imagine your hood as something else…Grease Lightning!”

Charlie Clips defeats Quill

Recap: “You said I was hungry and right now you and your squad looking like all snacks!” Charlie Clips’ freestyle pedigree puts yet another battle rapper to shame (or in this case smiling heavily at his opponent’s prowess for off-the-dome lyricism). Not that Quill, with a splendid (“I feel like Rock Lee with the weights off, you killing your own image, Nicolas Cage in Face/Off”) punchline game, didn’t do well here. But when you’re battling a Top 5 on Everybody’s List kind of guy, you just have to do better.

Charlie Clips: (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Charlie Clips – “I know she nervous, your girl scared, I got Eurgh scared, knock you out, you wake up with Eurgh’s bread!”

Rum Nitty defeats Quill

Recap: A gun bar-heavy and altogether rousing round one from Rum Nitty sets the tone early in this Don’t Flop match against Quill, leading to an almost-as-solid and more versatile second round that gives the Phoenix battler the bout, before Quill (who struggled with his flow in the first two rounds) salvages the 3rd with what would be his best round: a steady diet of nice, self-deprecating raps and witty barbs.

Verdict: Rum Nitty (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Rum Nitty – “I’m in the spot with a pocket rocket, it sound little but it ain’t, remind you of Shallow Hal ‘cuz this bitch is bigger than you think!”
