Recap: From KOTD’s Season 1 tournament, Reverse Live gives a strong effort with a bunch of wily personals and brazen punches on his opponent Stuey Newton. But seemingly coming off a couple of battle losses, a determined Stuey, in his bag throughout the bout with a bunch of fierce name flips, more intricate punches, some stellar wordplay and stinging gun bars/personals, takes both of the opening rounds for the win before a debatable 3rd.

Reverse Live defeats Cali Smoov

Recap: Season 1, round 1 KOTD battle between Cali Smoov and Reverse Live goes the latter’s way as after the two split a round 1 and 2 that was littered with aggressive personals, an altogether spicier ‘real talk’ turn by Live in the deciding 3rd gets him the win.

Verdict: Reverse Live (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Reverse Live – “I promise you’ll make the Director’s cut when I put you on these extended clips!”

Bigg K defeats Reverse Live

Recap: Gotta get past a 3-minute intro, but still a riveting 1-rounder from Ruin Your Day sees the brazen punches, sizzling wordplay and mocking/witty personals from Bigg K edge the raucous, but abstract lines and sly humor from Reverse Live.

Verdict: Bigg K (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Bigg K – “You fucking junkie, y’all ain’t what you make it out to be, the coolest thing you ever did was hang out with me!”

Geechi Gotti defeats Reverse Live

Recap: Consistent and rapid with the fiery name flips, stifling set-ups and requisite urban (“Buck-fifty across his Adam’s apple, then put the .3 [tray] in his face like…’You wanna have a sample?'”) flair, Geechi Gotti scores a relatively easy 30 over a too one-dimensional and often indirect Reverse Live.

Verdict: Geechi Gotti (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Geechi Gotti – “Big straps, I heard he work at Five Guys…man, you serve nigga’s at drive-thru’s, we serve people on drive-by’s!”

Real Deal defeats Reverse Live

Recap: While the mostly raucous punches from Reverse Live made their mark throughout this No Coast Raps 3-rounder, a more versatile, wordplay/similie-lit and personals-heavy Real Deal delivers enough heat to take rounds 1 and 3 (call the 2nd debatable) and earn the win over his fellow Grind Time alumni.

Verdict: Real Deal (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Real Deal – “There’s always one awkward fat kid breaking the skinny jean rules!”

Dizaster defeats Reverse Live

Recap: Grind Time used to have so many battles go into overtime that one can’t help but wonder how many battle rappers would bring 4 rounds with them instead of the standard 3. That said, here’s another GT battle that had no business going into OT, as a more consistently potent, aggressive and witty Dizaster clearly took the 1st and 3rd rounds versus Reverse Live before going OT and landing one more haymaker to take the final round too.

Verdict: Dizaster (W) 3-1

Favorite line: Dizaster – “I hate when rappers come down here acting so damn hard, you look like Roseanne Barr swallowed a whole damn car!”
