Nu Jerzey Twork defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Does it get any more exciting on a battle stage than a focused and prepared Nu Jerzey Twork? Probably not. Back on URL for the first time in quite awhile, a rambunctious and consistently lit Twork uses a barrage of fiery wordplay, hazardous set-ups/name flips, hard-hitting performance bars, mocking personals, stinging gun bars, plenty of mayhem and gritty/head-ringing punchlines to score more haymakers and hand out a Gentleman’s 30 and beat back a mostly solid, rebuttal spicy, witty at times, aggressive and gritty with the punches Real Sikh. For Twork (who also took some fierce shots at Smack in round 3) to remind everyone of what he brings to the table when he’s on his A-game on this ‘Civil War 3’ card, could make for a scary 2023.

Verdict: Nu Jerzey Twork (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Nu Jerzey Twork – “Merciless, it’s petty killers that I’m working with, I charge 60, I give them 50, take my little paper off the top, it’s a Hershey Kiss!”

K-Shine defeats Real Sikh

Recap: With about half-a-minute of audio being lost during K-Shine’s 3rd round of this URL/N.O.M.E. 12 bout Real Sikh, gonna go ahead and call round 3 a tie. And while that prevents the consistently performance bar-lit, name flip savvy, punch-heavier and witty Shine from scoring a 30 after handily taking rounds 1 and 2, considering that we hadn’t seen him on the big stage in quite awhile and the ever-rambunctious Sikh gave him a run for his money throughout, the victorious Shine still left quite an impression.

Verdict: K-Shine (W) 2-1

Favorite line: K-Shine – “Another New Jersey nigga with a death wish, taught my old gun a new trick…fetch this!”

Fonz defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Dope URL Summer Madness 5 tourney matchup between Fonz and Real Sikh sees the latter get busy with a aggressive plate of hard-hitting real talk, some crazy wordplay and stining braggadocious bars. While a never-lacking-for-confidence Fonz scored left and right with a gang of sizzling name flips, witty barbs, bullish darts and a versatile array of fire punchlines which when combined allowed the Landlord to outscore his opponent in both rounds 1 and 2 for the win before a slightly more turned up and consistent Sikh edged the 3rd.

Verdict: Fonz (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Fonz – “If I put a red dot on his wrap, nor Johnny or Quest can stop me from fucking up Haji!”

JC defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Against the witty at times and often raucous/bullish raps from Real Sikh, JC immediately goes for the kill, using a gang of morbid bangers, unwholesome name flips/wordplay, graphic mayhem and sick punchlines to get the win in this competitive 1-rounder from URL’s Banned card.

Verdict: JC (W) 1-0

DNA defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Fire battle from URL’s Smack Volume 9 card between the vet DNA and popping newbie Real Sikh saw the former lighting up the room with an aggressive and versatile performance that featured a shitload of fiery name flips, stinging 4-bar set-ups/punches, flexing wordplay/mayhem, spicy schemes, hard-hitting personals (esp. in an elongated, but righteous 3rd round) and rich similes. As for Real Sikh? Yet, another dope showing. The Jersey star staying competitive throughout with a gang of rousing punches when he wasn’t going at his opponent with a bunch of piercing personals and roundhouse lyrical stunting. Still, with a handful of more haymakers in a slightly more steady rounds 1 & 2 DNA gets the win before Sikh gets the edge in round 3, thanks to a more condensed turn that was just as quantitative in over-the-top heaters as his opponent.

Verdict: DNA (W) 2-1

Favorite line: DNA – “You see I’m the best at this, you peep that whole connection Sikh?, human centipede!”

Pat Stay defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Taking advantage of Real Sikh’s mostly pedestrian schemes and punches (as well as one too many personals on his opponent’s last battle against K-Shine) in both the 2nd and 3rd round, after a versatile and spitfire opening round 1 from both battlers that made the opener debatable, Pat Stay uses with a gang of mocking/hard-hitting personals, braggadocios punches, some stinging wordplay and piercing name flips/wit to handily take each of the latter rounds for the win in this Drake-sponsored, URL/Til Death Do Us Part card.

Ave defeats Real Sikh

Recap: From URL’s Civil War card, another pretty solid effort from Real Sikh, filled with some witty barbs, a stockpile of aggressive mayhem and potent punches/name flips/rebuttals that still however wasn’t good enough to beat the punching power of Ave. The Norfolk, VA, vet using a gang of hitting pop culture references, sick name flips, piercing wordplay and sometimes righteous, but mostly flexing punchlines to take all 3 rounds for an impressive win over an opponent who otherwise has had a dope 2021.

Verdict: Ave (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Ave – “This Captain Planet, yeah the Indian got heart in the ring!”

Arsonal defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Impressive victory by Arsonal here in what was altogether a dope and competitive battle against his fellow New Jerseyan Real Sikh on URL’s Super Fight 4 card. Da Rebel, after struggling a bit with his flow in round 1 while facing a punch/wordplay-heavy and brazen Sikh, would come back in round 2 (after getting edged in the opener) with a pair of versatile, well-angled, lyrically-sublime, trap-talking, highly personal when necessary and punch-lit to the point of even spitting a rare rebuttal to take round 2 and edge what was a scathing and personal-bent 3rd from his opponent, to get the come-from-behind win.

Verdict: Arsonal (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Arsonal – “I got about 30 on neck, I got a 30 on deck, you still red-shirting pussy, you ain’t put Jersey on yet!”

Real Sikh defeats Danny Myers

Recap: Champions of the Year don’t quit. And unless your name is Dre Dennis, you shouldn’t be battling every week. Those are two factoids that Danny Myers had to fond out the hard way as a week after beating Shotgun Suge in a sometimes grueling 3-rounder, the Bar God (who’s long been criticized for never saying no to a battle) decides to take on a rising up-n-comer in Real Sikh and literally gets his ass handed to him in a brutal showing that saw Sikh’s highly intense, but versatile array of hardbody punchlines, grungy wordplay and hard-hitting personals light up the scoreboard. And in a sight we haven’t seem since he battled Stuey Newton a couple of years back, a verbally fatigued Danny not only chokes in each of the opening rounds (it should be mentioned that he did have a pretty solid, but flow-challenged round 1 that he almost it through before forgetting his bars near the end), but flat-out quits without spitting a single bar for his round 3. So while Sikh, who was sensational here, gets himself a rare bodybag, you know he didn’t want to get the win this way. On the other hand, putting aside his supposed undefeated round streak being broken as well as him being out of the COTY contention with this awful performance, maybe Danny Myers will learn a lesson from this (tho I highly doubt it), take a break from battling for a couple of weeks or so and get back on his grind. Either way, a kind reminder all battle rappers: unless your name is Dre Dennis, you really shouldn’t be battling every week.

Verdict: Real Sikh (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Real Sikh –  “So what if he the G.O.A.T. [goat] my people make curry outta that!”

Real Sikh and Sneezey Bo [DEBATABLE]

With an equal dosage of bar efficiency, call this one a draw.

Verdict: Debatable

Favorite line: Real Sikh –  “You boring and weak, when he go I’m going to sleep, I tried it, but can’t keep my eyes open with Sneeze!”

Mike P defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Judging from their history on stage, Real Sikh versus his Italian doppelganger Mike P had all the makings of putting on a dope battle and that’s exactly what it turned out to be. The two battlers, readily known for their boisterous, punch/wordplay-lit and aggressive styles would keep things competitive throughout the match with a punchline-heavier Sikh edging edging round 1, before a more consistently spicy Mike (despite Sikh delivering a couple of roundhouses) would return the favor and edge the 2nd round to even things up going into the 3rd. The final round was yet another goodie (and thanks to Sikh, pretty enlightening and political too) with more sizzling personals on each side in the midst of some righteous screeds. However, it’s a personal breakdown-savvy, boastful-bent and punch-heavy Mike P who edges the deciding turn for the win.

Verdict: Mike P (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Mike P – “You rap in gym clothes, what you take pre-workout before battles so you can get extra loud?, Hey yo Smack the first thought I had when I seen him rapping in Under Amour is we must protect this house!”

Real Sikh defeats King Jables

Recap: Competitive 1-rounder from iBattleTV between Real Sikh and King Jables, while featuring your usual assortment of rousing punchlines, boastful darts and ringing mayhem, goes Sikh’s way as the New Jersey up-n-comer’s added ability to display some wit and alter his flow for some nice rapid-fire schemes as well as Jables one too many dry spots and over-reliance on name flips that didn’t always score, gave Sikh a close win.

Verdict: Jey The Nitewing (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Jey The Nitewing – “Either side of the bracket, I only know half these nigger’s and they stick me with the fucking fortune teller, if I wanted my hand read [red] I’d slap these nigger’s!”

Real Sikh defeats Spade

Recap: A little too reliant on name flips overall, but more succinct with his stealthy punches to edge round 1 before faltering to a way more punch-heavy and wittier Spade in round 2, Real Sikh takes advantage of his opponent’s wanton nerd persona with a personal-spazzing and mockingly clever 3rd round to gain the win in this Proving Grounds matchup from Smack/URL.

Verdict: Real Sikh (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Real Sikh – “The .44 my lady friend, sparking all day with it, don’t toss it, I’ll stay with it, I feel like I dump this bitch every week…we gotta on and off relationship!”

Xcel defeats Real Sikh

Recap: Delivering well-crafted name flips on a whim, lofty gun bars and jaunty punchlines/wordplay with steady aggression, Xcel does just enough to beat back a gritty and competitive, but not quite as consistent Real Sikh in this fierce 1-rounder from iBattle.

Verdict: Xcel (W) 1-0

Verdict: Real Sikh (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Real Sikh – “Small muthafucka’s struggle the most, but that’s the experience that he’s after, where do you think he get his material as a rapper?, he had to climb to get the Fruit Loops off the fridge, that’s when he thought: ‘I got the serial on the ladder!'”

Real Sikh defeats Dre Dennis

Recap: Better here when dishing hardbody personals and witty barbs (ironically, so was his opponent) instead of punches that were hit-n-miss, Jersey up-n-comer Real Sikh uses a near flawless 2nd round to even things up before delivering more haymakers in the deciding 3rd to score a mild upset over a solid, but too-gun-bar-reliant Dre Dennis in this 3-rounder from EBC.
