Buttah From Da Block defeats Shotgun Suge

Recap: Buttah From Da Block does these Verbal War Zone battles all the time, so he certainly came into this battle versus Shotgun Suge with a bit of an advantage. But in this case Suge, who’s been known to display a lack effort from to time, pretty much hands his opponent this one with a bunch of raucous, but standard lines in the 1st and 2nd rounds, before completely giving up and cutting his 3rd round short. In the meantime, Buttah’s gritty raps, versatile cadence and piercing punchlines showed once again that he has his VWZ credentials on lock.

Verdict: Buttah From Da Block (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Buttah From Da Block – “I’m from the era of broke dreams and dope fiends, with no means, so when they get it, they OD!”

Chef Trez defeats Buttah From Da Block

Recap: In this 3-rounder from Gates of the Garden, Buttah From Da Block puts on a solid effort with some nice, aggressive punches here and there. But too many reaches and predictable/pedestrian bars from BFDB along with a more condensed Chef Trez who consistently killed it with fire name flips, steely gun bars and fierce punchlines/rebuttals over the course of his 3 rounds, gives the Chef another $30 meal ticket.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “No bragging, but I’m the real plug, I do the dope rapping, how you want it, throat-slashing or straight-faced like no passion?, it’s just you and my gun…butter-n-toast, old-fashioned!”

Cortez defeats Buttah From Da Block

Recap: Damn, if that Big Pun “You Ain’t A Killer” beat isn’t still fire in 2018. Besides that, anyone familiar with Cortez’s overall resume, mixtapes, singles, etc. over the years, knows full well how battling over a beat is second nature for him. So much so, as proven here against a resolute, but nowhere-near-as-nice Buttah From The Block, that with the Murder Ave vet’s ability to endlessly spit rapid bar after bar with gritty cadence, this battle really wasn’t a fair contest.

Verdict: Cortez (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Cortez – “Closed casket, now your features got smothered, looking down like ‘Yo, I can’t believe it’s not Butter!'”

Nu Jerzey Twork defeats Buttah From Da Block

Recap: As Danny Myers would say: “Yikes!” Yet, another choke by Nu Jerzey Twork, here in this 3-rounder versus a loud, hitting at times and aggressive (pardon the NJT impressions) Buttah From Da Block. However, a more bodacious, eccentric with the gun lines and consistent with the punches Twork does enough in the first couple of rounds to dismiss his final round collapse and gain the win.

Verdict: Nu Jerzey Twork (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Nu Jerzey Twork – “Pipe in the sock, .22’s on a rifle to prop…you ain’t see Ketchup vs. Mustard? [bwoh!], this nigga Buttah doing life in the box!”

Bill Collector defeats Buttah From Da Block

Recap: Putting it all together with a gang of any hard-hitting/zany punchlines, barrels full of wit, stifling personals/gun bars, a bunch of fly name flips and of course, a crazy ‘Gun so big…’ line, Bill Collector manages to dial up enough haymakers to edge a pretty solid, entertaining and versatile effort from Buttah From Da Block in this 1-rounder from the Gates.

Verdict: Bill Collector (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Bill Collector – “I’ll rob you with a cap gun then beat you with a real one!”

Buttah From Da Block defeats Swave Sevah

Recap: Helped by a handful of stumbles by Swave Sevah, but also scoring with a bunch of piercing punchlines, some fierce wordplay and delicious/consistent flow on the infamous “The Bridge Is Over” beat in the deciding 3rd round, Buttah From Da Block does enough to edge the latter two rounds and take this entertaining Verbal War Zone battle.

Verdict: Buttah From Da Block (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Buttah From Da Block – “Pistol in ya mouth, Akinyele how I pop the trunk!”
