O-Red defeats Stumbles

Recap: From URL, despite each round being decided pretty handily, it’s still an entertaining 3-rounder here between O-Red and Stumbles. The latter scoring with a bunch of witty ‘Uber driver’ jokes/personals, gritty punches and delicious haymakers, while Red for the most part kept it steady with a gang of fiery gun bars, ripshod 4-bar set-up/punchlines and dope personals/name flips. That said, it’s O-Red’s performance in the first and third rounds that proved to be more than enough to secure the win, the Jersey vet’s better consistency, steadier flow and lyrical finesse proving to be the deciding factor.

Verdict: O-Red (W) 2-1

Favorite line: O-Red – “Ayo, why you always saying you gonna beat somebody’s fucking ass?, like I hit harder than Cyclops with one punch, i’ll really crack ya shit, the fist will connect to the teeth like a Afro pick!”

Swamp defeats Stumbles

Recap: From URL’s ‘Outside 2’ card, a pretty good (and witty at times) 3-rounder between Stumbles and Swamp ends up with the latter taking it. As outside of a couple of hiccups here and there in round 2 (which helped a cleaner, crispy street talking and punch-lit Stumbles to score a debatable) it’s the more versatile, personal-lit, name flip spicy, rebuttling, boastful, gun bar-slinging and altogether more consistently crazy with the punchlines Swamp who would take the 1st round and handily take the 3rd for the win.

Verdict: Swamp (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Swamp – “Yoou standing in front of a real stepper…boy I can put creases in a pair of foamposites!”

Tay Roc defeats Stumbles

Recap: Take out all the extra, dumb, almost-fighting shit on stage d you have a dope 3-rounder here between Stumbles and Tay Roc from URL’s ‘Outside’ card. Stumbles, with a gang of bullish punches, gritty street bars and witty personals (at Roc and his gf Lady Caution) kept it competitive the whole way. While the ever-aggressive Roc stayed lit with a steady barrage of steely lyricism, some crazy schemes, sturdy back-to-back punches, sizzling gun bars and potent name flips. Fierce and combative through all 3 rounds, outside of a debatable 2nd round, it’s the more steadily punch-heavy and haymaker-landing Roc who takes rounds 1 and 3 for the win.

Verdict: Tay Roc (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Tay Roc – “Rusty revolver, got fly symptoms, the nose dry, ya soul fly, get sent to the most high, pallbearers will carry ya coffin on both sides, how you wanna look in ya casket, Dirty Prep or bow-tied?!”

Shotgun Suge defeats Stumbles

Recap: Fire and competitive 3-rounder between Shotgun Suge and Stumbles from URL’s Down to the Wire card delivers on the fiery punchlines (both both battlers), slick street talk (esp. from Stumbles), grandular trap talk (esp. from Suge), descriptive mayhem and greasy personals. Close and aggressive throughout with a bunch of brash name flips, steely gun bars and flippant wordplay mixed in to spice up the haymakers, thanks in part to one many indirect bars (esp. when it came to a certain ‘wave’ from New Jersey) and a couple of dry spots, but mostly due to a slighltly more intricate (esp. when it came to his stinging usage of Stumbles’ slogan) Suge delivering a two rounds of seismic lines in rounds 1 (which he barely edged in lieu of a dope by his opponent) and 2, it’s Shotgun who gets the win before a more steady and haymaker-lit Stumbles took the 3rd to avoid the 30.

Verdict: Shotgun Suge (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Shotgun Suge – “What my life like?, I couldn’t wait to gun you, your life not mine’s? till I take it from you!”

Stumbles defeats Snake Eyez

Recap: While Tsu Surf and all the drama that came with Midnight Madness deserve the majority of praise for getting Twitter Battle Rap Spaces popping since the beginning of the year. Outside of Aye Verb, there’s been a handful of lesser-known names who deserve their kudos too. Namely Stumbles and Snake Eyez, both of whom have recently taken getting online and talking shit, promoting upcoming battles and speaking on potential matchups with fans to new levels (and yeah that even includes Snake Eyez and his manager Tony Bro getting into it with Stumbles’ crew in person before a recent URL event). And while it’s always a stain on battle rap in general when fisticuffs between battlers get exchanged, now it’s only right that these two go at it on the big stage here for URL’s UM5 card. Unfortunately for Snake tho, if he thought he had an advantage coming with Stumbles becoming notorious for choking, that wouldn’t be the case here. As the Springfield, MA battler, clearly confident, stepping and motivated to beat his longtime adversary, was able to dish 3 clean and crispy rounds of slick punchlines, real street talk, witty/hard-hitting personals and steely gun bars to beat back a gritty-as-usual and aggressive, but in this bout, too often topsy-turvy Snake for a well-earned 30.

Verdict: Stumbles (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Stumbles – “I wanted the money, you wanted the belt, this is what you asked for, y’all had me fighting Jake the Snake in that ring…but I was worried about the bag more!”

Sonny defeats Stumbles

Recap: In a raucous and competitive 3-rounder from We Go Hard littered with a gang of gritty punchlines and mocking/witty personals, a more steady-flowing and sly metaphor/name flip slinging Sonny, after getting edged in round 1, takes both of the latter rounds (that 2nd was superb) to comeback and pull off the win over Stumbles.

Verdict: Sonny (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Sonny – “If I lik a shot, he gonna be doing way than stumbling!”

Boze The Bambino defeats Stumbles

Recap: A mostly clean showing from the witty and street-savvy, but often slip-up prone Stumbles still isn’t near enough to beat back a stellar (tho a little long-winded), wordplay/personal-lit (esp. with the phone recording of his opponent in round 3), gritty and punchline/haymaker crazy 3 rounds from Boze The Bambino in this URL UM4 first-round matchup.

Verdict: Boze The Bambino (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Boze The Bambino – “Your death will look natural Stumbles like a speech impediment!”

Stumbles defeats Murda

Recap: A couple of unforced errors in round 2 proves that he still needs to work on his prep game. But besides that, in what was a competitive, witty at times and raucous battle on both sides, it’s the more consistently hitting, slick-talking, storytelling/name flip-rich and gritty Stumbles to takes round’s 1 and 3 over Murda to win this URL App exclusive battle.

Verdict: Stumbles (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Stumbles – “You could lie if you want, my real name David, I was sent to die!”

Stumbles defeats Ty Main

Recap: In this competitive 1-rounder from We Go Hard, both Stumbles and Ty Main come packed with a load of spicy punchlines, bodacious heaters and greasy street shit. But it’s the more expansive with the storytelling, witty and haymaker-lit Stumbles who takes it in the end.

Verdict: Stumbles (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Stumbles – “The only freak I know is your mother nigga, I knew your room was spotless, that’s why I told you to come to dinner, make sure your plate clean…eat those, they healthy, ya mother made greens!”

Eazy the Block Captain defeats Stumbles

Recap: Red Dot 2 battle from URL sees Eazy the Block Captain and Stumbles unload a whole boatload of wicked street shit when they weren’t trading spicy punchlines throughout this competitive bout. And while Stumbles also stood out with his witty punches/personals, greasy gun bars, slick talk and ability to finally make it through a PG without choking (tho he did have some minor hiccups here and there), the Block Captain, firing on all cylinders (scratch a fire, but elongated 2nd round which forced a debatable) with the aforementioned heat along with some gritty trap talk, gripping prison war stories, solid personals/wordplay and dizzying name flips, is able to take the 1st and 3rd rounds for the win.

Verdict: Eazy the Block Captain (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Eazy the Block Captain – “I’m a real trapper, me and the connect got a construction deal, I get the work and he get billed after!”

Prez Mafia defeats Stumbles

Recap: With gun bars and absolute mayhem raining down everywhere, Prez Mafia certainly had to earn this one. Against a fiercely (“That’s why I brought that steel around, ‘cuz I watched you steal a round from a nigga and you still around!”) nice and just-as-spirited Stumbles, a little case of (no pun intended) stumble-itis cost Prez a close round one, before a cleaner and more (“Come see, I’ll get a couple kick, that’s two rounds in ya head, now you Chun-Li!”) potent 2nd round evened things up. Still, judging from a pretty solid, heat-drenched final round Stumbles wasn’t going away any time soon. Yet, relying on experience, some nasty punches/set-ups and ever-ready wordplay, Prez does just enough to take the 3rd and the win.

Verdict: Prez Mafia (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Prez Mafia – “Negro spiritual, I’ll let it sing in the field….then swing low!”

Big T defeats Stumbles

Recap: Stumbles combines a gritty flow with real street (“What you was booked for?, that nigga look more…see, I’m first shot, you already took four!”; “Pops was an addict [attic] before I even knew what the base meant [basement]”) talk, nice bully (“Nigga, I will kill you and raise your son!”) bars and rich storytelling lines to stay competitive throughout this battle with Big T. However, overall his semantics lack consistency and just aren’t enough to keep up with T’s more steady combo of nifty (“Driving around looking for Smoke, he like Big Worm!”; “Boy you a puddle, you’re trash, you’re doo-doo, you’re ass, you boo-boo, you’re P-U, you’re played out, you platinum FUBU!”) wordplay, potent name flips, fierce schemes and searing (“Dirt, steel barrel, all I need is a wheelbarrow, bury him alive the Kill Bill special, beat him to death the Emmitt Till special, ‘cuz all my boys got arms around me, they make feel special!”; “See I got the courage to take your ashes up out of the furnace and [smacks the air] LeBron James the remains after the service!”) performance bars.

Verdict: Big T (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Big T – “My pops will make you put those guns down like Craig daddy!”
