Recap: With a bout versus Hollow da Don on deck, this GOTC: Body Snatchaz matchup against battle vet Amzilla could have easily been a trap match for Danny Myers. And tho a vigorous, aggressive, performance-zinging and (“Silencer equipped, that’s for all the shooters, it be sliding on the pole like your daughter’s future!”) punch/mayhem-heavy Amzilla would give the BarGod all he could handle for 3 rounds, thanks in part to ‘Zilla’s elongated turns, along with Danny flexing with a strong metaphor and rebuttal game, more condensed rounds with an equal amount of (“I don’t give a fuck when I catch you, I caught wreck with a few cans, I’ll let it ring at 12am, I’m checking for food stamps!”) haymakers as his opponent and fiery gun bars/name flips/punchlines throughout the battle, after a debatable 1st round it’s the highly prolific, but still dangerous Danny who edges the latter two rounds for the win.

Verdict: Danny Myers (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Danny Myers – “I’m at your trap, we gonna rush through it, don’t talk about how you gonna CHECK nigga’s…just do it!”

J. Murda defeats Amzilla

Recap: No doubt, as proven here, the veteran Amzilla would be pretty dope in a corner cypher what with his ability to spit plenty of nice off-the bars at the ready. But in a rap battle (while admitting that he forgot all his writtens), against the likes of a hungry J. Murda, going all freestyle just was not gonna work as the young’uns rich organic punchlines and relentless heat earns him an easy dub.

Veridtct: J. Murda (W) 2-1

Favorite line: J. Murda – “I got two straps, one I copped yesterday the other got 4 bodies, so basically I got arm to waste [waist], the other in the air like I’m doing the Nay-Nay!”

Amzilla defeats Luciano Crakk

Recap: Amzilla goes ham for the first couple of two rounds, snapping on Luciano Crakk’s (“Plus he’s a waiter so when you see him at the steakhouse, that’s the only time this nigga beefing with the trey [tray] out”) gun talk and fashion cred while scoring with formidable punchlines. Crakk competed in the first two rounds, but was let down again by slip-ups and a lack of focus in round 3, making for an easy win by Amzilla.

Verdict: Amzilla (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Luciano Crakk – “Are you on black people’s time or do you do things in a hurry?”

X-Factor defeats Amzilla

Synopsis: So at the beginning Poison Pen clearly yells (twice) that this is an unlimited battle, X-Factor goes unlimited and somehow Amzilla still gets cut off?! Anyway, considering that X went ham with the jokes and delivery and Amzilla admittedly stumbled (which he to make up for a lil’ bit with a freestyle), I highly doubt that Amzilla had enough left in his tank to catch up to the overall zealotry X-Factor displayed in his round. So give X the win, but with an asterisk.

Verdict: X-Factor (W) 1-0*

Favorite line: X-Factor – “When you see his mom and dad, smack ’em…cuz’ they’re cousins”

AR-16 defeats Amzilla

Synopsis: Nice to see AR-16 at least TRY to combine his wicked freestyle ability with a decent pen game. Hell, maybe if he did so more often he could catch more bodies as he does here against a guy who has no problem admitting that he mixes period juice with his Henny.

Verdict: AR-16 (W) 3-0

Favorite line: AR-16 – “You look like you got that hat from Sears”

Charron defeats Amzilla

Recap: Grind Time Now vs. KOTD battle sees Charron and Amzilla kill it with about 8 rounds of pure, off-the-dome freestyles, building off each other’s rhymes with acute timing and using everything from crowd apparel to piercing personals to fellow battle rappers to enhance their bars. A close one throughout, it’s the more versatile and persevering Charron who takes it in the end.

Verdict: Charron (W) 5-2

Favorite line: Charron – “I’ll leave his throat slashed in, the chance of you beating me is like the chance of Thesaures being a spokesperson for Proactive!”

Hollow da Don defeats Amzilla

Recap: A judged battle with $2K on the line sees Hollow da Don use an aggressive template of gritty punchlines, gripping personals and a few dope rebuttals to easily beat a pretty substandard Amzilla.

Verdict: Hollow da Dow (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Hollow da Don – “Nigga heard Jeezy tracks, talking about you go through blocks…I’m like nigga please, you sold two rocks!”

Amzilla defeats DNA

Part 2/OT

Synopsis: Intriguing to say the least as one gets to see this Grind Time Tryouts battle featuring an early DNA (along with some of your other favorite battle rappers) looking to get on and build his resume. Good battle and since I agree with Cortez on what defines Overtime rules, it gives me no problem going with Amzilla on the win since he spit the hottest line (“I’ll hit you with an uppercut [looks up] DNA done got stuck on the ceiling”) in the extra round.

Verdict: Amzilla (W) OT

Favorite line: Amzilla – “I heard they call you DNA because you couldn’t spell chromosome”
