Fettuccine 20 defeats King Moneyy

Recap: Cleaner turns by both Fettuccine 20 and a returning-to-the-stage King Moneyy could’ve made this 1-round We Go Hard bout better. But with only a week or so prep, a couple of mulligan’s on the slip-ups is only fair. Still, while Fetti rapped almost twice as long as his opponent and both battlers spouted a bunch of gritty lines, the more versatile, name flip-lit and consistently hitting punching Fetti gains the edge here.

Verdict: Fettuccine 20 (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Fettuccine 20 – “So when I’m airing just look out, the strap on this rifle, hanging from the shoulder, look like I brought my own chair to the cookout!”

Lexx Luthor defeats King Moneyy

Recap: Fire rounds displayed from both sides in this one-rounder from WeGoHard between King Moneyy and Lexx Luthor. The former dishing grimy neighborhood tales along with stinging (“I don’t play fair, I just copped the baby ratchet out of daycare!”) punches that hit hard, while the latter scored with rapid punchlines, fire schemes and witty (“Retarded bitch in a bikini, the two-piece dumb!”) barbs throughout his turn. Definitely a close, but the edge here goes to Lexx for more versatile lines and a slightly more consistent flow.

Verdict: Lexx Luthor (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Lexx Luthor – “It’s like saying ‘thanks’ with a lisp, I’m nice when I’m spitting!”

King Moneyy defeats J Morr

Recap: J Morr comes nice with a gang of nifty punchlines, but a combo of too many slip-ups, political bars that went nowhere and a way-too-gritty King Moneyy–flexing throughout his one round with statuesque hood tales, salacious gun bars and potent punches that shook the room–was just too much for Morr in the end.

Verdict: King Moneyy (W) 1-0

Favorite line: King Moneyy – “You always talking about guns, you ever shoot bitch?, I’m stupid, I’ll hit you in the heart with a bow and arrow while bumping ‘Cupid’…with one .12 [112] just in case that bow and arrow don’t do shit!”

Brooklyn Carter defeats King Moneyy

Recap: Consistency, never wasting bars, what a difference maker. Add the repeated name flips, delivery, potent (“Niggas literally dying to be fire, no cinnamon challenge”) bars and a not-so-nice 3rd round by King Moneyy, Brooklyn Carter gets this one on what was otherwise an electrifying battle–arguably one of the better PG battles of 2014.

Verdict: Brooklyn Carter (W) 2-1

Favorite line: King Moneyy – “I’m walking around with that ‘Wish a nigga would’ that’s all a ‘G’ needs [genie]”

Moneyy defeats Gwitty

Recap: Another intense and entertaining battle from the good folks at WeGoHard. Gwitty’s first round was epic with hard (“I grab the ratchet, like breaking up a fight with two bitches”) bars and hitting (“Your bitch she not popping, I took her sis [assist] to play with Jazz like John Stockton”) personals, while Moneyy countered with heavy wordplay and performance (“That gun from Korea it speak Chinese, it’s my money machine, it go cha…ching…POW!!!”) bars–edge to Gwitty tho for more consistency. Second round is where Moneyy took over as Gwitty bars weren’t always matching his intensity and he seemed to lose steam as the round went on. Then too, Moneyy stepped it up with enough “easy” schemes to win the round and tie it up after 2. 3rd round saw Gwitty spit from witty (“This pump, a long jump, knock your body across country”) punchlines and talk that real shit for those in the crowd that can rock with that, but overall it wasn’t nearly enough to beat Moneyy’s steady (“That fifth caaaaaammmmmmmeeeeee with a kick, like when Mike got back with The Jacksons”) haymakers and real bar execution.

Verdict: Moneyy (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Moneyy – “Fuck a big gun, this shit so little you’ll think it’s disposable”

Moneyy defeats Stylez

Recap: Early Moneyy and Stylez (apparently they went to the same high school too) put on a nice battle for a crowd of Brooklyn rhyme fiends. Intense and competitive throughout, it’s Moneyy who comes out on top with better punches, schemes and wordplay, while Styles (tho the “twin .32’s…hit his Nintendo with this .64” line was fire) relied on too many name flips, went for angles that didn’t work and wasted too many bars on other rappers instead of his opponent.

Verdict: Moneyy (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Moneyy – “Y’all Camera Gang, well there won’t be no HD when that cannon [Canon] go flash!”
