Tony D. defeats Serius Jones

Recap: Well ummm…that was bad. Really bad. Yet, to Serius Jones’ credit, an alright freestyle game allowed him to complete his 2nd and 3rd rounds (after he choked in the 1st) and avoid what would’ve been a pretty embarrassing bodybag.–to think, this is a guy who was not only a former Fight Klub champ, but has wins over the likes of Charlie Clips, Dizaster and Arsonal under his belt. As for opponent Tony D.? Nothing too spectacular here (not that he needed much considering his opponent’s many failings), but still a spiffy barrage of witty barns, feelgood personals, jaunty boasts and some abstract punchlines more than did their job.

Verdict: Tony D (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Tony D – “You talking battle rapping in its prime?, I led a champion’s life, anyone could be a veteran, ‘cuz that shit’s just a matter of time!”

Arsonal defeats Tony D

Recap: Tony D’s winsome wordplay and mocking personals (esp. during a hilarious 2nd round) keeps him neck-to-neck with Arsonal in this 3-rounder from Don’t Flop. But with the New Jersey native’s ability to stay sharp with a wide load of fiery punches, rambunctious multi’s, glistening gun bars and ill-mannered personals, a debatable 2nd and 3rd round forces one to make the 1st round, a turn that saw Ars clearly out-punch his opponent, the deciding factor here.

Verdict: Arsonal (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Arsonal – “I’m disrespectful, I’m the type of nigga that when you sneeze I say ‘Fuck you!’ instead of ‘Bless you!'”

Pat Stay defeats Tony D

Recap: Even in front of a Don’t Flop crowd that seemed enamored with just about anything a mostly subpar Tony D spit, Pat Stay still survives his opponent’s hometown fans as well as his own knack for pedestrian bars (in what altogether was a pretty tedious battle) with just enough hitting braggadocio bars, random jokes, witty punchlines and stinging personals to pull off the win.

Verdict: Pat Stay (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Pat Stay – “You thought that Marvwon shit was rough, know what rhymes with Autism Awareness Month?…who gives a fuck!”

Chilla Jones defeats Tony D

Recap: Don’t Flop battle between Chilla Jones and Tony D while smooth in delivery and punches came off a little lethargic at times as both Jones and Tony seemed to have left their A-game behind. Still, outside of an angle-prone and personal-bent 3rd round that easily got beat by his punch-heavier European opponent, the more versatile and consistently spicy with the punchlines Jones takes the first two rounds easy for the win.

Verdict: Chilla Jones (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chilla Jones – “Watch where you aim the cam, if there’s blood drying on the limbs, they’ll see Burgundy on the screen like Anchor Man!”

Tony D defeats Math Hoffa

Recap: Despite some nice (“If it’s that personal, I’mma go to ya crib, scare ya mum while she cooking, [Bow!] put a hole in her fridge!”) punchlines here and (“These light-skin niggas man, I don’t want no beef, Drake got y’all niggas turned up, I ain’t trying to be no Meek”) there, Math Hoffa gets caught up in his feelings, allowing outside the ring drama to get in his head and induce some rare slip-ups as well as an off-the-dome rant that while allowing him to vent his frustrations with current-day battle rap, didn’t help his cause of being able to keep it professional in the ring. That, and what was mostly a consistently (forgive him for daring to mention the words ‘Humpty Dumpty’ in a battle) tight and personal (“You fell off, I remember days when you was a heavyweight, now you don’t cut the top tier like a wedding cake”) savvy round from the UK’s Tony D, allowed the Hollow da Don’s doppelganger to pull off a mild upset.

Verdict: Tony D (W) 1-0

Favorite line:  Tony D – “Bro, you punch rappers in battles, and then moan when you get punched and then moan more when your opponents in battles bring the shit up!”

Charlie Clips defeats Tony D

Synopsis: Albeit an entertaining battle throughout, Charlie Clips gets this one easy with some game rebuttals, crowd-friendly quips, sublime schemes, fiery impersonations and enough fire personals to make Tony D want to reconsider his battle rap career.

Verdict: Charlie Clips (W) 2-1

Best line: Charlie Clips – “Put this dick in ya girl lip, I’m like what she saying?, hands back and forth on her ass, look like I’m DJing”

Real Deal defeats Tony D

Recap: From KOTD, a near body for Real Deal as opponent Tony D’s struggles with his flow in both of the opening rounds help give an already punchline/personal-heavy RD the win, before the more hitting RD also takes the 3rd round to get the 30.

Verdict: Real Deal (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Real Deal – “How the fuck are you old as shit but you look like you’re in 2nd grade!”
