But perhaps motivated a bit at T-Rex pulling out of their rumored Summer Madness battle last minute, the ever nearly combustible Chess holds it together here and with a plethora of nasty name flips, fiery wordplay and stinging gun lines/boastful barbs delivers a much more steady performance to earn the win.

Recap: Tubbs uses an impressive array of gritty punchlines and hometown references to make things close. But in this competitive 1-rounder from Houston Bar Code’s HOME 4 card, a couple of hard-hitting rebuttals to go along with a gang of stinging name flips, fiery 4-bar set-ups and mayhem-lit punches gives DNA the win.

Loso defeats Tubbs

Recap: Near upset here as a gritty punch game and some fiery Christian-laced darts from Tubbs almost gave him a win in this 1-rounder from Houston Bar Code versus Loso. But despite some topsy-turvy name flips and a few punches here and there that were below his usual standard, a slightly more condensed Loso scores with just enough hitting punchlines and piercing storytelling bars/personals to edge the win.

Verdict: Loso (W) 1-0

Ryda defeats Tubbs

Recap: Pretty solid 1-rounder between the visiting Ryda and Houston’s Tubbs features a whole lot of nifty punches/personals and mostly competent name flips from the latter and a wide array of staunch punchlines and righteous heat from the Goonie vet. And while both battlers had their missteps, during his turn Tubbs especially struggled at times with his flow and that along a couple of more haymakers as well as a nice mid-round rebuttal by Ryda, gives Mr. ‘I Like To Name My Guns’ the vic.

Verdict: Ryda (W) 1-0
