Recap: Chilla Jones and Cephdeezy meet up for a lyrical showdown for 1 round on the Ball Hogg Ent stage and it’s a pretty solid effort from both battlers with plenty of boastful barbs, rigid personals, fiery schemes, some witty darts and piercing punchlines/gun bars to keep you paying attention throughout. However, it’s the visiting Chilla, with a more consistently punch-heavy and versatile turn, who comes away with a well-earned road win here.
Verdict: Chilla Jones (W) 1-0
Favorite line: Chilla Jones – “You need more than luck, that’s why you lack a cult following!”
Recap: Granted, it’s funny how so many opponent’s bring up Anubis’ very basic wardrobe at that BET/UFF battle versus Brizz Rawsteen some time back. But style points aside, the Michigan rapper’s ability to deliver fire punchlines, gritty tutorial raps and stinging set-ups with a rapid Midwest twang usually serve as his breadwinner as he shows again here, dropping consistent heat to easily beat back an often elongated and mostly standard Ceph Deezy.
Verdict: Anubis (W) 3-0
Favorite line: Anubis – “Tho you getting slumped with honor, you like Colombiana…a bitch that wanna kill, but don’t knwo shit about the world yet!”
Recap: Easy win here for T Top as his eccentric wordplay, potent gun bars and urban life (“My mom’s put coke in my pamper, I was born hustling”) tales are too much for Cephdeezy’s mostly rampant filler and predictable angles.
Verdict: T Top (W) 1-0
Favorite line: T Top – “They dropped you in the ring to die, boy you Owen Hart”
Recap: Can’t front, after one round I thought JC was on his way to another bodybag here. But then Ceph Deezy really stepped it up on the bars, delivery and schemes in rounds 2 and 3 to make this a battle. However, overall JC just had more variety and nicer wordplay to edge it, but in the future don’t sleep on the kid from Indiana.
Verdict: JC (W) 2-1
