Bill Collector defeats Gauge

Recap: From KOTD’s Season 1 tournament, a gang of raucous punchlines and upright personals by Bill Collector combined with a slick-talking and witty, but overtly flow-challenged Gauge gives the Norristown, PA, vet rounds 1 and 3 for the win.

Verdict: Bill Collector (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Bill Collector – “Yo, Hitman/Showoff bars, they be the worse rhymes, you said if you and Hutman were in the same building, you’d make me get my get-back on Hitman, why?, he ain’t do shit the first time!”

Marv Won defeats Gauge

Recap: After getting edged by the slick-talking Gauge in round 1 of this KOTD, GP2020 tourney opener, Marvwon builds a comeback via an earnest barrage of bruising punchlines, some stifling heat and boastful barbs to take both of the latter rounds for the win over an opponent who didn’t help himself when he cut his final round short.

Verdict: Marvwon (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Marvwon – “You rappers screaming ‘$50k can change my life!’ [makes hands like gun and points at Gauge] I’m telling you 1K can change it too!”

Goodz defeats Gauge

Recap: Dope 1-rounder from Go-Rilla Warfare between Goodz and Gauge goes the former’s way as despite a pretty solid, slick-talking, braggadocio, personal and at times witty/punch-heavy turn by Gauge, a more refined, affable with the life lessons, wordplay-savvy, slightly more consistently-lit and personal/punch-heavy Goodz edges it at the end.

Verdict: Goodz (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Goodz – “You know why I’m doing better than these battle nigger’s?….because the nigger’s I hang with are doing better than me!”

Don Marino defeats Gauge

Recap: Spouting blistering name flips that even his opponent had to nod his head and approve as well as a boatload of fiery punchlines/set-ups/gun bars/schemes that had the crowd spazzed, in this 1-rounder from the Slums Battle League Don Marino shines throughout while unloading a gang of haymakers to take this one over the always entertaining and gritty, but in this case not as consistent Gauge.

Verdict: Don Marino (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Don Marino – “Who you be trolling?, I dare lames, before I see the bus, buck-fifty, ain’t fair change!”

Gauge and Aye Verb [DEBATABLE]

Recap: While a pretty solid throughout Aye Verb brings some righteous vet talk and piercing punches to this Go-Rilla Warfare 1-rounder, his opponent Gauge, although rapping a little longer, still manages to use his cold flow to spout cocky stylings on street code ethics when he wasn’t dishing some witty (“The powder so white the brick stamp say ‘gluten free’!”) barbs, throwing shots at fellow Chi-Town rapper Big T or delivering enough worthwhile heat to earn a debatable.

Verdict: Debatable

Favorite line: Aye Verb – “You gotta win two rounds to be solidified, if I don’t lose two rounds I don’t get criticized!”

Prep defeats Gauge

Recap: Prep versus Gauge gets the ‘everything but the kitchen sink treatment’ what with frequent rebuttals, freestyles, your resident Drugz-getting-into-an-argument-with-somebody moment, tag-ins, crowd interruptions, some nice bars, etc…and to think, this was only a one-rounder. As for the battle, the edge here goes to Prep, as while Gauge had some heaters here and there, overall Prep flexed more with consistently nice punchlines and some cool name flips.

Verdict: Prep (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Prep – “They tried to give me dirt on you, but this ain’t adding up, why would I need ammo for Gauge, I been working with different calibers!”

Gauge defeats B. Magic

Recap: A slightly cleaner flow, consistently efficient with the bars and more versatility with the punches allows Gauge to edge this 1-round Go-Rilla Warfare battle against a pretty solid, but not as steady with it B Magic.

Verdict: Gauge (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Gauge – “When you die tell the devil to forward my mail, you know you bogus when you get the cold shoulder in hell!”

JC defeats Gauge

Recap: Took him till the 3rd round to get turned up, but after a couple of (for him anyway) average rounds littered with pedestrian bars that led to a split with the mayhem-dishing and sometimes witty, but filler-prone Gauge, JC finally separates himself from his opponent with a spitfire 3rd round that drenched with steely punches, rambunctious schemes and some fierce wordplay, gets him the round and the win.

Verdict: JC (W) 2-1

Favorite line: JC – “Now I’m giving shots, but you can’t match nothing I spit, look who they bumped you against, check the dash, this gauge don’t even see the same numbers I hit!”
