Geechi Gotti defeats Hollohan

Recap: From KOTD, against a fierce and aggressive, but mostly subpar-punching Hollohan, in both of the opening rounds Geechi Gotti goes ballistic. The Compton, CA, battler using a steady stream of gritty street rhymes, flexing gun bars, daunting boasts and stinging punchlines to handily take rounds 1 and 2 for the win before dedicating his entire 3rd round to the passing of Canadian battle legend Pat Stay (RIP). And since Pat’s close friend Hollohan also did the same using his final round as a tribute to the Sucka Free Boss, we’ll just call the 3rd debatable.

Verdict: Geechi Gotti (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Geechi Gotti – “Don’t make me upset, or blame the thuggin’, wet dreams, I literally came from nuthin’!”

Hollohan defeats Dizaster

Recap: In tribute to his old friend Pat Stay (RIP), Hollohan returns to the battle rap stage for the first time in almost a decade for this KOTD #StayForever 1-rounder against Dizaster and it was definitely a goodie. Diz with his witty name-calling/personals, rambunctious lyricism and rich storytelling kept it gritty the whole way. While Hollohan with a bunch of funny jokes, hard-hitting punches, boastful barbs and fire personals no doubt made the late ‘Sucka-Free’ king proud. A close one that you wished had gone 3 rounds seeing how much this battle meant to the fans, it’s the slightly more consistently bar-heavy Hollohan who gets the edge here.

Verdict: Hollohan (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Hollohan – “You have a very, very punchable face, that’s why your parents named you Bashir [bash here]!”

T-Rex defeats Hollohan

Recap: After getting humiliated in his last battle against Charlie Clips, T-Rex gets up, wipes himself off and goes back to basics with an infusion of aggressive gun bars coupled with some nice personals in three short rounds and fend off Hollohan, who seemed to be more focused on how well his jokes played to the crowd (as well as himself) than actually attempting to win the battle.

Verdict: T-Rex (W) 2-1

Favorite line: T-Rex – “Me and Mook against you and Pat Stay, we could do it a two-on-two nigga, kill you on a camera, put this body on the news nigga!”

Charlie Clips defeats Hollohan

Synopsis: Clips (FYI: Nova Scotis is not a “city” but a province) gets his race card on and throws in a mix of fervent schemes with spirited jokes to beat an able, but long-winded and way-too-much-filler having Hollohan.

Verdict: Charlie Clips (W) 2-1

Best line: Charlie Clips – “I’ll knock the juice out your fucking lemon, put the metal on the lid of ya hype man, the silencer make it go [makes sound], you don’t know if I’m shooting or trying to open a Sprite can”

Cortez defeats Hollohan

Recap: Already setting up his opponent’s love for illegal narcotics with very pointed personals in the earlier rounds, Cortez would take it to another level with a pretty mean (and classic) and thoro round 3, that was more lit on substance than craft. Still, for all of Cortez’s residual mayhem, race-baiting chatter and elicit STD personals, in this 3-rounder from KOTD, Hollohan did work hard to make things competitive, utilizing an aggressive use of ethnically-charged jokes, self-deprecating bars, fiery schemes and some ripping (“I fucked your bitch in your living room, that filthy ho was pathetic, more things happened on the couch than The Simpson’s opening credits!”) punches/wordplay to keep the battle close. However, in the end, it’s a more condensed Cortez who after getting edged in the 1st, scores with more heat to edge the 2nd, before his aforementioned 3rd seals the win.

Verdict: Cortez (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Cortez – “Real friends help you make yourself, if I was him as a fake friend I would hate myself, all the ‘roids and the cocaine I would hate my health, if I’m the reason my man’s dead, I would take myself!”

Pat Stay defeats Hollohan

Recap: A couple of ex-best friends, Hollohan and Pat Stay, battling on the KOTD stage makes for a gang of mean personals, witty barbs and belittling narratives on what being a true friend means. A competitive dance throughout with some fierce punchlines from each battler thrown in, after splitting the first two rounds it’s a more consistently spicy Pat Stay who edges the deciding 3rd round for the win.

Verdict: Pat Stay (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Pat Stay – “And you say you write my shit? Yeah right, I can’t even show my raps to Jeff, shit I be telling him one of my new lines and he’d be like ‘hold up let me grab a pen!'”
