Chess defeats Swervoo

Recap: From URL’s ‘Civil War 4’ card, it’s definitely a close one through and through. Chess with a gang of fire name flips, righteous bars/personals, some witty darts, slick set-up/punchlines and some shots at Aye Verb (with whom he’s been engaging in an ongoing feud) certainly made his presence felt. While the relative newcomer Swervoo continued to show that he’s here to stay with a plethora of gritty punches, clever wordplay, gutsy street rhymes and mocking personals that even had his opponent impressed. Clean flow-wise with no unforced errors or rebuttals from both sides, it’s the slightly more haymaker-lit Chess who edges rounds 1 and 3 (got a sublime Swervoo edging round 2) for the win.

Verdict: Chess (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chess – “Fucking with the kid done got you in trouble…Kels is pissed!”

Swervoo defeats Cortez

Recap: Even a surprising choke in round 3 fails to withstand a couple of superb rounds by Swervoo in this URL ‘Outside’ matchup against Cortez. The young DMV spitter landing a boatload of aggressive street raps, fire punches/name flips, boastful barbs and hitting wordplay to take rounds 1 and 2 for the win before the aforementioned unforced error in round 3 combined with a touching and punch-heavy turn by Tez allowed the veteran BK battler to take the final round and avoid the shutout.

Verdict: Swervoo (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Swervoo – “Matter fact, say a sentence in Spanish to the crowd right now or I’m a click and spray…no no no no no, translate ‘say what?’ in Spanish…this a K!”

Tay Roc defeats Swervoo

Recap: From URL’s ‘Lite Work’ series, after witnessing this battle one can tell that Tay Roc had a lot of fun writing those nssty name flips. That and a bunch of hitting wordplay and gritty gun bars spiked with plenty of ruthless mayhem with the punches gets the Gun Bar King a 30 over an overall solid, but costly when it came to taking too long to the punch Swervoo.

Verdict: Tay Roc (W) 3-0

Favorite line: Tay Roc – “”I’m toting with me two clips on a belt, they gonna have to get him some help, he gonna need unlimied health, like I avoided an accident and still injured myself, I got Swerve out of the way and hit something else!”

Ryda defeats Swervoo

Recap: A bit of an overkill what with the extra length to his round, but in this competitive 1-rounder from OSBL, Ryda still manages to parlay a gang of fiery name flips, pointed vet talk, hitting personals and gritty gun bars/punchlines into a win over a versatile and witty at times, but not as steadily turned up Swervoo.

Verdict: Ryda (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Ryda – “You went from being in the stands to trying to play in the field, now I gotta slide on the field like Jermaine O’Neal!”

Verdict: Real Name Brandon (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Real Name Brandon – “I was in the Charger with the .9 before anybody knew Drew Brees!”
