First Lady Flamez and Midas [DEBATABLE]

Recap: From Dark Horse Battle League, relative newcomer Midas and 1st Lady Flamez go at it from 3 rounds in a battle that despite Flamez keeping her turns pretty short (at about 2 minutes each) throughout, still stayed close. Midas, consistently showing that he can hang with a seasoned vet, lit up the scoreboard with a variety of fiery schemes, some fire similes, righteous gun bars, mayhem-dipped punches and stinging boasts/personals. On the other hand, tho she had a couple of slight hiccups, Flamez kept it together, short and to the point, battling back with a barrage of flexing name flips, clever (“Black mom, I know bad boys only talk till they properly beat, so this street cat will always be pure pussy to me!”) punchlines, witty barbs and gritty darts/gun bars over the course of 3 rounds. That said, it’s a more haymaker-lit Midas who takes round 1, before a 2nd round equal on overall efficiency scores a debatable there. Still condensed, but turned up nonetheless, a more steady-punching Flamez edges the 3rd to make this one a tie.

Verdict: TIE

Favorite line: Midas – “You come trying to be Captain Save-a-Hoe, bullets breeze by you, you get to kiss your own Daddy goodbye bitch…Eve’s Bayou!”

JC defeats Midas

Recap: From Dark Horse Battle League, a close and competitive 3-rounder (with an added round 1 shoulder bump from Midas that’d make Ace Amin proud) between JC and Georgia battle rapper Midas features plenty of death-gripping bars, brash punches and slick wordplay from both sides. Add to the mix a bunch of fly name flips from JC as well as witty (“You really fucked me up that battle, that nigga Surf beat ya ass so bad they locked him up right after!”) personals from Midas and for the latter anyway, it’s an impressive performance that should warrant some plates from the big leagues. Nonetheless, after a debatable round 1, thanks in part to Midas dishing some pedestrian bars and struggling a bit at times with his flow, it’s the more cohesive, set-up crazy and slightly more haymaker-lit JC who edges rounds 2 and 3 for the win.

Verdict: JC (W) 2-1

Favorite line: JC – “Y’all wanna know why nigga’s like you attract danger?, ya get ahead and get outta line…like the Black Ranger!”

Chef Trez defeats Midas

Recap: From Dark Horse Battle League, outside of needing to be more clear with his vocals, newcomer (according to VerseTracker anyway) Midas delivers a pretty solid and gritty effort here in this 3-rounder against fellow ATL-ien Chef Trez. But nonwithstanding a debatable round 2, it’s all Trez here as the veteran and highly prolific battler responds to his opponent’s fiending street bars with a boatload of fiery gun bars, piercing off-the-dome heat, graphic/mayhem-lit darts and potent punchlines to handily take rounds 1 and 3 for the win.

Verdict: Chef Trez (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Chef Trez – “This ratchet killing every possibility, it got its tubed tied!”
