Recap: Two longtime top tiers who haven’t met up yet is a rare event in battle rap these days. But for 3 rounds Rum Nitty and Calicoe finally link up on Takeova Battle League and it’s a goodie. The battle staying competitive throughout what with Cal’s boastful raps laced with brash street themes, witty barbs and wily darts/personals competing hard against Run’s infinite punching power, piercing wordplay/similes and head-ringing gun bars. Still, it’s the slightly more haymaker-lit and steady hitting Calicoe who edges round 1, before Nitty, getting spicier and flat-out more intricate as the battle proceeded edged rounds 2 and 3 for the comeback win.
Verdict: Rum Nitty (W) 2-1
