Rum Nitty defeats King Krash

Recap: From the Smoke Room Battle League, a dope 3-rounder between a versatile, street-themed, boastful and gritty King Krash and punchline/gun bar fiend Run Nitty goes to the 3rd round after the two (a slightly more haymaker-lit Nitty taking round 1 before Krash edged the 2nd) split the opening rounds. But despite another hard-hitting and competitive round by Krash that had the crowd buzzing, an over-the-top Nitty spazzed out with a gang of stinging back-to-back punches, stifling wordplay and piercing/witty personals to take the final round for the win.

Verdict: Rum Nitty (W) 2-1

Chess defeats King Krash

Recap: From The Smoke Room Battle League, a gritty (esp. when he was talking that hard street/gang shit), competitive and pretty solid effort from King Krash gets beat back by an ‘elite’ version of Chess. The Bronx, NY, battler using a consistent barrage of spirited gun bars, sizzling name flips, piercing set-up/punchlines, wily personals and some intricate wordplay in a haymaker-drenched turn that with no unforced errors gets him the win in this dope 1-rounder.

Verdict: Chess (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Chess – “This fella weak, I don’t respect this geek, I wrote this knowing I was gonna win like an acceptance speech!”

Swamp defeats King Krash

Recap: Fierce, 1-round battle between Swamp and Chi-town’s King Krash goes the former’s way as the South Carolina battler’s more condensed turn, which contained a boatload gripping mayhem, witty personals and rugged punchlines/schemes, was more than enough to beat back a hard at times, but elongated and hit-n-miss round from his opponent.

Verdict: Swamp (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Swamp – “I wish I could sleep peacefully, fuck a cover, it ain’t till I tuck my pistol I feel warm in the bed!”

JC defeats King Krash

Recap: Fierce 1-round battle between JC and Chicago rapper King Krash sees the latter go hard on the God-complex angles/themes, sermonizing and gritty street lines with a flair of confident aggression throughout his turn. But JC being JC, even if not totally on his A-game, still brought a heavy load of stinging punchlines, flagrant gun bars and potent name flips from his palette to score enough haymakers and earn the vic in this one.

Verdict: JC (W) 1-0

Favorite line: JC – “The mere fact that I come from nothing means I will always reach for something, I even reach and bang the hammer without thinking, so don’t rush to judgment!”

King Krash II defeats Born

Recap: Go-Rilla Warfare battle between Born and King Krash sees the latter stay steady with enough fire name flips, stifling gun bars and some solid punchlines to pull off a mild upset in beating a flow-challenged and inconsistent Born.

Verdict: King Krash (W) 2-1

Favorite line: King Krash – “So please, miss with me with all this mess about how you burst the Tek, the only time I was seeing Born with an extra arm is on a birth defect!”
