Kyd Slade defeats Woosaah

Recap: Outside of Kyd Slade struggling a bit with his flow (esp. in round 1), it’s a crazy 3-rounder here between Slade and Woosaah that’s brought to you from URL. The two battlers trading a gang of rugged street talk, fiery trials, raucous set-up/punchlines, tribulations of the drug trade and gritty gun bars to make for a dope battle from start to finish. That said, for Slade things looked a little bleak at the beginning, what with an aggressive and rapid-punching Woosaah dropping steely haymakers left and right to soundly beat a pretty solid, but flow-challenged turn from his opponent. However, the latter two rounds would tell a different story for Slade. The Hartford, CT, spitter upping his game with a plethora of blistering ‘plug talk’, perfunctory trap talk (esp. during a superb 2nd round), killer name flips, stinging metaphors and crazy dope boy narratives that brought the listener to the streets. And while a pretty sturdy overall and personal-lit Woosaah stayed in the fight, it’s the slightly more consistently nice and haymaker-rich Slade who would take rounds 2 and 3 for the comeback win.

Verdict: Kyd Slade (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Kyd Slade – “I had real opps, I move with a gauge to take a walk, it made me limp so I walked with a cane to play it off!”

Nu Jerzey Twork defeats Woosaah

Recap: For the most part, Woosaah and Nu Jerzey Twork were able to engage in a 3-round goodie, keeping it close via plenty of stirring gang talk, fiery gun bars, brash punchlines, wily personals and piercing wordplay. However, after the two split (had NJT taking round 1 before Woosaah edged the 2nd) the opening rounds, thanks in part to battle league Straight Drop Media failing to do their research on proper room temperate for battle raps, midway through his 3rd a still competitive Woosaah succumbs to the heat, has to stop his round short, slips up when he attempts to restart it before he finally ends his 3rd for good. Those mishaps leave Twork with plenty of room to deliver another punch-heavy turn that combined with some added wit gave Nu Jerooz the round and the win.

Verdict: Nu Jerzey Twork (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Nu Jerzey Twork – “Holes sending through ya shit, I’ll squeeze the shell, you gonna blee as well, you know where you send a nigga named Woosaah? [sighs] deep in hell!”

Woosaah defeats Clone

Recap: From T-Top’s “No Cut” card, against the leisurely but gritty polemics of Clone, Woosaah uses some sturdy wordplay, righteous gun bars, mocking personals and hard-hitting punchlines to score more haymakers and take both of the opening rounds for the win before a surge by Clone in the final round allowed for a debatable there.

Verdict: Woosaah (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Woosaah – “I don’t know much about taking a test, but I could tell you an autopsy look like a state exam!”

Woosaah defeats Jakkboy Maine

Recap: From URL’s Nexus card, yeah even in light of a dope showing from Woosaah, can’t blame Jakkboy Maine for feeling like he should’ve had this one. The Richmond, VA, battler (after losing round 1 to his more haymaker-lit opponent) having to cut what was presumably a superb round 2, seemingly due to issues with his breathing and overall health. That would leave the crazy-punching, gritty, personal-lit and simile outstanding Woosaah with the win before Jakk would change up his flow/cadence and deliver a punch-heavy and fire 3rd to avoid the shutout.

Verdict: Woosaah (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Woosaah – “We rep the same flag but you ain’t part of my team bra, ironic he a Blood and every other day he C’s up!”

Woosaah defeats T-Top

Recap: From URL, in a battle filled with plenty of hardbody punchlines, gully street raps, piercing gun lines, solid name flips and mostly from T-Top’s end: witty/fiery personals, it’s the more consistently gritty and bullish darts from Woosaah that come back and take it in the end. The Crubible alum, after getting edged to the slightly more bar efficient Top in the opening round, and sticking to his gameplan with a steady mix of bullish bars, feelgood personals, dope storytelling and mayhem-lit zingers that that not only had more bite than his opponent, but coupled with (tho he did have a wild middle round) Top going oft-kilt a bit when it came to flow, allowed the Virginia battler to edge the 2nd and 3rd rounds for the win.

Verdict: Woosaah (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Woosaah – “Fuck these small rooms, I really seen bodies with no reaction!”

Woosaah defeats Bad Newz

Recap: SMH, hard to believe that after all this time battling, Bad Newz still remains clueless on how to end his round on a hot bar. However, give him credit for putting on in front of his hometown, NC crowd. As he does here, keeping all the onlookers amped with a dope performance in this fiery 1-rounder from URL. But therein lies the problem with Newz: can his bars consistently match his energy? As witnessed here, not so much. As despite a hearty effort littered with plenty of hometown linguistics, fierce crowd control, rugged gun bars, gangster talk and some gritty (that “relax” bar was fire) punches/name flips that combined for a pretty solid showing, one too many mediocre punches from Newz and an opponent in Woosaah who delivered steady, unadulterated heat via a boatload of fire punchlines, potent name flips, bullish street darts and stinging wordplay, gives the newbie the win.

Verdict: Woosaah (W) 1-0

Favorite line: Woosaah – “Man listen, you ain’t no gangsta, I got him nervous to answer, we all know you dead pussy like cervical cancer!”

Fonz defeats Woosah

Recap: Against the predominantly fiery street raps from Crucible alum Woosah, Fonz uses a consistent barrage of gritty punchlines, witty/piercing personals, mayhem-lit darts and fire name flips to take rounds 1 and 3 (call the 2nd debatable) for the win in this competitive 3-rounder from URL’s Final Exam card.

Verdict: Fonz (W) 2-1

Favorite line: Fonz – “Mac’s is blazing, let’s get activated, shoot up the crib, ain’t no Window’s in that bitch, they think Apple made it!”
