Recap: From URL’s Smack Volume 12 card, a fire 3-rounder between Jakkboy Maine and O-Red. The latter delivering three action-packed rounds of rich, performance bars, fiery wordplay, nifty sound effects, gritty punchlines/anecdotes, mocking personals and well-oiled gun bars to keep him close the entire bout. While O-Red took right to Jakk with a gang of spirited gun bars of his own to go along with a plethora of boastful barbs, piercing 4-bar set-up/punchlines, hard-hitting name flips, graphic mayhem and a couple of dope rebuttals. A rambunctious on both sides and haymaker-lit round 1 would get edged by Red’s off-the-dome burners, but a slightly more consistent, punch-heavy and turned-up would edge round 2 to even things up going into the 3rd. And while the deciding 3rd round was another bar-fest from both battlers, Red’s ability to turn up on the spicy/witty personals, a killer punch game, a bunch of stinging similes and some righteous heat just to flex his vet status would produce a classic and more imporantly be the difference in the Jersey linchpin taking the round and the battle.
Verdict: O-Red (W) 2-1
Favorite line: O-Red – “Fuck a Jakk, he going straight to the gateway, ‘Cuz you really a fake blood in my eyes, ummm Ray-J!”
